SLUMS, DOGS & MILLIONAIRES….

Slumdog Millionaire is getting ample space in newspapers past a month for its winning streak as well as for its rave aspersions. The so called portrayal of 'depressing image of immaculate India' makes me wonder at the idiosyncrasies of the people. Is it that people are trying to masquerade under the veil of chauvinistic attitude and fallacies? Are we afraid to accept the other side of India?

During my traveling I have seen deplorable conditions of children living on roads ,begging for food, picking up rags from dirt dumps, never minding the shit they step on, far away from any prerogatives but still living contented in their own world and fantasies .Is not Jamal, the protagonist's life events inspired by the daily happenings? Don't deny that Godhra riots, Babrimasjid issues never happened. Things like molesting women in public, them treated only as sexual objects, fundamenatalism, vandalizing in the name of religion and that love seen as taboo in vogue?.Why blame a movie which depicts reality and that too under the pretension of a clean country? I wish people come out of their AC cars, get a reality check and do something for the betterment of society. And just for the heck, imagine what if 'SM' was directed by Indian filmmaker? Euphoric reviews anyone? Indian attitude..'Jai Ho'..!
