SAIL-Exam Pattern-2009

SAIL Exam pattern has 2 sections:

1) Technical-100 questions.
2) Aptitude+General Knowledge -150 questions.

Duration: 2.3 hrs.

Some questions were on topics like (for ECE branch):Part -I

1. To find collector current in a transistor circuit.
2. To find SWR.
3. Couple of questions on mosfet characteristics(factual and numerical).
4. on opamp.simple problems.
5. on network parameters(2 or 3).
6. Many questions were from solid state devices...like problems on concentration of holes n electrons. diffusion length, velocity etc.direct questions..need only formulas.
7. on electromagnetic spectrum, frequency range of radio waves & UV rays ..
8. problems on LC filters, RLC series ckt , to find impedence..
9. to find frequency in a given function-basic analog communication problems.
10. some 6-7 questions on control systems..on root locus, zeroes n poles, analogous systems,
to find peak time,kv,kp co-efficients, on which side the roots lie those kinda...
11. starting 10 questions were from mathematics,to find order of the matrix,
limit of func sinx/x, difference equations, probability, equations on circle, ellipse,
bessel functions, expansion of series....
12. on dc motors: what happens when ac is fed to dc motor.
which motor is used in synchronisingmotors.
13. on counters, simple problems on ex-nor gate, dac, and simplified form of some expression.

Part-II

1. 20-25 questions were from general knowledge..
-tropic of cancer doesnt pass through which of the following:
1.tripura,mizoram,rajasthan,jharkhand.
2. smallest state in north east.
3. sudden death is associated with which sport.
4. which alloy is mixed with steel to reduce corrosion..
2. Quantitative aptitude:
on SI, shares, work, train, boat problems, were pretty long..
3. Verbal:
2 comprehension reading, antonynms-synonyms, order, filing blanks..
4. Logical reasoning:
very very simple. large data but 2 step solutions. relations, arrangements, Alphabetical coding, number series etc.
5. On figures..guess the one that logical follows the previous figures..very simple ones.
